This is a working Pottery Museum established on the site of an old factory, in a remarkable architectural setting combining tradition and modernity

Around the 15th – 19th century château and 15th century chapel, which are classed as Historic Monuments, the gardens contain weird tunnels of gourd-bearing plants.

Château d’ Angers and the Apocalypse Tapestry

This castle, built in the early 13th century by Saint Louis (King Louis IX), is characterised by its pentagonal wall, nearly a kilometre long, bulging with 17 massive towers. Inside are its hanging gardens and the famous Apocalypse Tapestry (1370), the largest piece of Medieval weaving in the world, at more than 100 metres long.

Le Lion d'Angers
