Extending over an area of 14 hectares, the Doué-la-Fontaine bio park is a vast area dedicated to the valorization and preservation of animals from around the world.
17 km from the city of Saumur and about 50 km from the Château des Briottières, the Doué-la-Fontaine Zoo is built in the place of an old quarry of Falun, a shell stone, and it is from this particular mineral that it derives its particularly attractive profile. The various enclosures are located in escarpments and cellars and have been arranged in such a way as to recreate a lush and exotic setting. The first visitors visited the park in 1961. Today, the park extends over 14 hectares and totals 1000 animals which represent a total of one hundred species.
